最近做了一些六级听力，收获比较大

    a tranquil scene 一篇祥和的景象
  • spacious adj. 宽广的
    The house has a spacious kitchen.
  • shabby adj. 破旧的
    shabby old jeans and T-shirt.
  • solitary adj.
    独自的，单独的 He led a solitary life.
    孤零零的 a solitary farm
    唯一的，仅有的 There were no solitary shred of evidence.一点证据也没有

懂不懂第一题四个词不认识的含金量啊

  • irritate v. 刺激/惹人生气
    ir(在内部，进入) + rit (擦，摩擦) + ate 做，造成

    这三个部分拼起来怎么是刺激的

  • cozy adj. 舒适的，安逸的 the cozy atmosphere

  • literary critic 文学评论家

  • radical adj. 根本的，彻底的。 radical change 沧桑巨变

  • foster v. 培养，促进/抚养（他人子女） foster better relationship with the economy.

  • art discipline 艺术学科。discipline 除了纪律的意思之外，还可以表示（大学）学科

  • contemplation n.沉思
    in contemplation 在思考中
    a life of prayer and contemplation 祈祷与冥想的生活

  • federal government 联邦政府

  • fantasize v.幻想，想象 fantasize of getting an offer

  • commission
    n.官方团体（政府用于管理某事的委员会）；佣金/手续费；委托

  • instantaneous adj.立刻 aneous 是形容词性后缀。
    那么自然引出一个本词和 instant 区别的问题，网友说

    They are nearly identical. Instantaneous focuses more on something occurring in an instant or instantly, whereas instant simply means "immediately".
    也有说 instant 描述 entity 而 instantaneous 描述 event，和上面这个本质相同
