reflects

In the previous two writing classes and while completing writing assignments, I have indeed gained some insights.

In the first writing class, the teacher introduced more detailed descriptions of appearance. Through these more nuanced physical portrayals, I can depict characters’ looks more vividly while also subtly reflecting their personalities. In the session led by our senior student, I learned that the opening of an essay can include a ‘hook’ to engage the reader’s interest and help convey emotions more directly.

During the second writing class, the teacher discussed setting, which includes many elements such as historical context, real-world scenes, and weather. In the senior student’s lesson, she demonstrated the concept of “camera language”. For example, when a shot looks down on a character (a high-angle shot), the perspective suggests that the observer holds greater power or higher status. A long shot, which places the character within their environment, can provide readers with contextual clues, while a close-up highlights facial expressions. These techniques help in analyzing films—though professionals might consider them just the basics. I’m particularly fascinated by camera language! Since I often enjoy watching film analyses, the senior’s lesson deepened my understanding of certain cinematic techniques.
