Michael F. Goodchild
Michael Frank Goodchild教授是美国科学院地理信息科学院士，现任加州大学圣巴巴拉分校地理系教授。1965年获得剑桥大学（Cambridge University）物理学学士学位，1969年获得麦克马斯特大学（McMaster University）地理学博士学位。在加拿大西安大略大学（University of Western Ontario）工作19年之后，于1988起在加州大学圣巴巴拉分校地理系任教。1991年至1997年，Goodchild教授担任美国国家地理信息与分析中心（NCGIA）主任，1997年至1999年任美国国家研究委员会制图科学委员会主席，目前担任国家科学基金：社会、行为和经济科学顾问委员会主席。
Goodchild教授最早提出“地理信息科学”的概念，是国际空间数据不确定性研究先驱之一。他于2002年当选为美国科学院院士和加拿大皇家学会外籍院士（Foreign Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada），2006年当选美国艺术与科学院院士。Goodchild教授是拉瓦尔大学（Laval University）、麦克马斯特大学（McMaster University）、瑞尔森大学（Ryerson University）荣誉博士。曾获得加拿大地理学会卓越学术奖、美洲地理学家联合会卓越学术奖、加拿大制图学会卓越学术贡献奖、地理信息科学大学联盟（UCGIS）教育家年奖、皇家地理学会奠基人勋章。入选城市与区域信息系统协会（the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association）名人堂，并且于2007年获得有地理学诺贝尔奖之称的“瓦特林•路德国际地理学奖（Prix Vautrin Lud）”。
Goodchild教授的主要研究领域是地理信息科学、空间数据不确定性、空间分析等。他出版了10余部学术专著，代表性著作包括《Accuracy of Spatial Databases》、《Geographical Information Systems: Principles and Applications》、《Environmental Modeling with GIS》、《Scale in Remote Sensing and GIS》、《Interoperating Geographic Information Systems》、《Geographic Information Systems and Science》、《Uncertainty in Geographical Information》、《Foundations of Geographic Information Science》、《Spatially Integrated Social Science》、《GIS, Spatial Analysis, and Modeling》、《Geospatial Analysis: A Comprehensive Guide to Principles, Techniques and Software Tools》等。此外，他还发表350多篇学术论文。
